The current paradigm of drug development is unsustainable as costs and investors’ aversion to risk continues to increase. Non-profit research foundations are emerging as the architect of innovative collaborative models to overcome systemic obstacles and accelerate the development of new therapeutic approaches.

Kathy Giusti, MBA 1985, is Founder and CEO of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), which has completely transformed the treatment landscape for this uncommon and fatal cancer and is lauded as a model for other diseases to emulate.  She will share her unique business model, review some of the challenges she has overcome, and share her approach to the latest obstacle – building open access data platforms to speed drug discovery and development.
